Unheard Ink: Afterword
Unheard Ink: Speak Easy and Carry a Big Pen was a smashing success! The room was packed with people drinking tasty coffee, eating cupcakes iced with punctuation marks, and listening to each other read their fiction and poetry one after another. Thanks to everyone who came and listened and had fun with us. And thanks to the editorial staff for all the effort. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone involved in the Winter Wheat Festival of Writing for making the weekend superb and inspiring. Stay tuned for more events to come, including a Music Melee and possibly more open mics.

Prairie Margins presents Unheard Ink: A Launch Party for New Issue
We have planned a launch party for our upcoming 49th issue on Friday, November 16th, in conjunction with the 12th annual Winter Wheat Festival of Writing. The name of the launch event is Unheard Ink: Speakeasy and Carry a Big Pen. Coffee and snacks will be provided. There may also be fake mustaches to wear! We will be contacting contributors published in the new edition to read their work, and afterwards there will be an open mic session. We want to stylize the event in the vein of Beatnik expression and manner. Unheard Ink will begin at 9pm and run until 11pm.
In other news, we have been looking into several fundraising events, including a bake sale on October 25th, a raffle, and a Music Melee in the works.
More news to come. Stay cool folks.
Deadline to submit is Feb. 24, 2012
The deadline for our 2012 issue is February, 24, 2012. We accept poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and art from undergraduates from across the country. Submit up to 6 poems, up to 6,000 words for creative nonfiction and fiction, and send tiff files of at least 300 ppi.
Send your submissions to: http://prairiemargins.submishmash.com/submit.
